Xampplite; tweak-test-change your wordpress site before launching
When I first started this webpage; I got this domain – but for a while I put an “under construction” sign on it. I didn’t want this page to start with a single post. And I need to make some tweakings on this theme… like the OnMyComp.com logo.
There are ways to make the “under construction” sign appear and work via your WordPress server. But sometimes this takes to much work/time and it would be way nicer if you just could try all kinds of settings, ideas, tweaking, etc on your own computer uh…??
But yeah; WordPress as a program is normally not able to run on your own computer. Well; I found a real good page – which is explaining “how to install wordpress locally on your windows machine”….. The only 2 programs you have to download are Xampplite (in the instructions it is linked to Xampp – you will find a link to the lite version also !!) and Wordpress – follow the instructions.
This is also how I started this wegpage; first testing and running from my home-computer. And at the moment I liked it; put it on the server.
This is still how I test new themes and plugins….. !

That’s interesting. I did all my site construction while it was on the server. I wasn’t getting much if any traffic at that point though, so I guess it didn’t matter much. I still feel like I need to work on my site a little more though.
Ah well; will a site ever be completely ready..??
