It's so tiring to hear that all the time. The media doesn't demand anything. It's true the media presents a particular 'perfect' image, but it's the people themselves who make the decision if they want to conform to this image, or decide it's all BS what the media says and think for themselves what's good for them...

It's an example of a herd mentality, and this one is actually rather mild. A certain Mr. Goebbels used the same psychological phenomenon in the 1930s to put a certain Mr. Hitler in power... Most people are likely to follow to herd, instead of using their own brains. It's as simple as that.

Well I am heavy set, not obese but a bit over weight and I thought it was interesting how this can be done. I do not see it as funny but more of an interest how we can manipulate photos in many different forms.

Dear Jenny - I do understand your point...
I could have picked another item of the contests they have (and did)....
But I just liked the cartoony kind of pictures they made in this one.

I do hope you can appreciate the rest of the post - the recommendation I am doing for the the worth100.com website.

Sorry - not funny. Making fun of people because of their size - whether big or small - is no nore acceptable than racism in my book.

Eating disorders were virtually unknown when I was growing up. Now they are commonplace - why? because the media DEMANDS that people conform to a particular 'perfect' image and millions worldwide destroy their physical and mental health trying to achieve the impossible. Eat healthily whenever you can. Eat at least SOME things that make you happy even if they aren't healthy. And throw away the scales.
