Sync Calendars Thunderbird + Gmail/Google + iPhone
On My Computer I am working with Thunderbird (as my email program) – with Lightning as an add on….
One of my main email addresses is a Gmail address – which also has a calendar…..
And I am using my iPhone calendar….
Wouldn’t it be easy if they all would work “together”…??
Well; I got it all running !!
I am just assuming you already have Thunderbird….. probably you did notice; the calendar of Thunderbid is not really “something special”…. To make that work a bit better and more smooth; I installed Lighting (add on)….. Description from the website; “Lightning brings the Sunbird calendar to the popular email client, Mozilla Thunderbird. Since it’s an extension, Lightning is tightly integrated with Thunderbird, allowing it to easily perform email-related calendaring tasks.”
Next thing I am assuming; you are using the calendar of your Gmail account….
So; we want Thunderbird AND Gmail/Google agenda work together….
First you need to install the “Provider for Google Calendar” add-on in Thunderbird…..
Then go to your Gmail/Google calendar; on the left you will see a dropdown menu with the name of your calender – click the “settings” underneath that.
Then click on the name of your calendar; which gives you the details of your calendar. In the part of “Private Address” click the green button with “ICAL” on it… Copy the link you have in your screen.
Go back to Thunderbird, to the calendar part – in the top click “Calendar” – “Calendar Properties” …. give the calendar a name – and paste the link into the location.
And voila; you have synced your Thunderbird calendar with your Gmail/Google calendar…..
In the next post; I will show you how to sync your Gmail/Google calendar with your iPhone…. and this way you have your Thunderbird calendar synced with your iPhone!
