As I am totally not a programmer (not even close to it) – I am not able to tell you why you need the 3rd one – but you really do need it.
I am using the “Similar Posts” and “Recent Comments” plugins (and you do need the “Post-plugin libray” one also.
The same developer also has “Recent Posts” and “Random Posts” plugins – I have to say – I never tried those. But the other two I am already using for a while… and they do a great job.
The nice part of these plugins; they are highly configurable.
* the amount
* where to show
* special tags?
* where to put them
* what to show
* all kinds of filters
Really; you can change TOO MUCH !!
Well; just look in the sidebar and underneath the posts – looks good uh..??
What does the homepage say..??
Displays a list of posts which are related to the current post. Similarity is judged according to a post’s content and pattern of word usage as well it’s title and tags. What gets displayed and how it is displayed is highly configurable.
Displays a list of your most recent comments. What gets displayed and how it is displayed is highly configurable.
AND DO NOT FORGET TO GET THIS ONE; “Post-Plugin Library“
This plugin provides a library of essential routines for the Post Plugins: Similar Posts, Recent Posts, Random Posts, and Recent Comments. It does nothing on its own but is required if you use the other plugins.
