Notepad++; Notepad plus more
I am not able to give you a big review with all the “ins and outs” of this program.Trying to explain a bit what it does; YES…..
But as I am not really great with HTML and CSS and PHP language….. it is hard to tell if this would work any better than the more professional ones….
Okay; Notepad++ is your Windows Notepad + more….
Why would I use Notepad…?? Well; sometimes it is easier to copy a text and then drop it into Notepad – copy it from Notepad into (for example) Word…
Why would I do this..?? Well; sometimes text just has all kinds of “codes” behind it… Uh… bold – Italic - List…..
With pasting it into Notepad – the text will loose all this….. So you will get “clean text”….
But I am also using Notepad for changing my themes; those are written in PHP and CSS…. as I said before; I am not a big pro with this…. BUT; Notepad++ made it way easier for me….. Within this little program you really will see the coding nicely in order. Included line numbers. And everything is just a bit more clear because of the use of colours.
Yep; it makes it “way easier” for a newbie like me !!
Also nice; maybe you made a change within the file – but you can’t remember what…. Just open that one AND the original; and Notepad++ is able to compare the 2 files !!
What else can you do…??
Make macros – open stuff in tabs – easy “search replace” – PHP – CSS – HTML – Java – XML etc etc etc
Yep; I am not using the Windows Notepad anymore !!

Yeah, Notepad++ is awesome editor. Can’t say it is newbie-friendly, but one of the best for power users.
For themes and such editing files directly on FTP with bundled plugin rocks.
I am a newbie in all the html css stuff….. – and this program makes it all “a bit clearer to see what I am doing”….
Menu is nicely clear…. – yep = as you said “awesome editor”…!!
