GParted; partition editor
In my search for working with different Operating Systems – I decided to go for Ubuntu and Windows 7 on top of my normal Windows XP 64 bit.
The Ubuntu is a light kind of Operating System and is nicely working via my Sun Virtual Box.
But I am a little worried about Windows 7 – so I decided to plug in an extra harddrive (yep – I am the kind of comp person who has several HD’s available…
).
On top of my 60gb ATA (with Windows XP) and 500gb SATA (which I am using as a bulk drive) – I installed another 80gb I found in my sisters old computer.
BUT; she had it all divided in different partitions…… how to get that one back into one partition..??
After some searching I found this nice AND free partition editor. Is is a Linux based program – but because it is a boot cd – it works on every windows machine. Burning it as an ISO (my ImgBurn is really handy uh..??), restarted my computer and booting it from the cd-drive (while the machine is restarting – keep F8 pressed – and then option boot from cd). Via GParted I had the 80gb HD re-partitioned within 15 minutes !!!
As you probably can imagine – you can also make new partitions – but also make 3 partitions into 2 etc etc. And this all; extremely fast !!
