It's apparently about the averge CO2 that's produced, but it should be noted there are big differences between countries. An internet user in China visiting a website hosted there will produce a lot of CO2 (use of coal for electricity production), but an internet user in Norway visiting a website hosted in Norway will produce almost zero CO2 (near 100% use of hydropower for the production of electricity there).

Also wondering how much energy the 2 researchers have been using during their research....? ;)
Personally I do think it is important that companies like Google are "watched".... if you just look at the amount of energy they are using through their servers.
In Holland they have been talking about a new server farm; 100,000 servers and will have access to 30 megawatts of power. I do think those numbers make it important to watch them...
On the other hand; I do think that Google is one of the few who take all this very serious....
Yep; lightbulbs and less running of electronics would help = but you know; a google (and any other company) is using the same lightbulbs and leave their electronics on.... ;)

I generate something like 900g CO2 daily by breathing. Should I stop that as well?

That crap should just be ignored. People that really want to save energy do meaningful things like buying better lightbulbs and running less electronics 24/7.

Dragging Google into this is nothing but linkbaiting. Which bloggers are happily supporting.
